Gentle Liver/Gallbladder Cleanse

Although I recommend it, and probably many thousands have used it in some form, some people think the other liver cleanse we write about is too difficult for them to do. So, here is another version which is also supposed to be quite effective. I do them both!

The first day, start with one tablespoon of olive oil, one large clove of garlic, one piece of ginger (about the size of the end joint of your thumb), 8 ounces of apple, grape, or orange juice, 8 ounces of water along with one to two tablespoons of coconut oil. Dump all ingredients into a blender and blend good before drinking it.

Each day you increase the olive oil and garlic until you are up to 5 tablespoons and 5 cloves on the fifth day, at which point you are done. (Omit the coconut oil if you cannot locate a low heat or unheated variety.)

Some people may find this difficult to get down. (If so, you can just gulp it down.) Others enjoy it.

Some enjoy chasing this with fresh peppermint tea, which can help keep you from experiencing nausea.

I usually do this in the morning, a little before eating breakfast. I have not seen any instructions on timing, so I assume it does not matter.

To make your cleanse as successful as possible, it is important to have all your organs of elimination working optimally. Make sure especially that you are having regular (at least daily) bowel movements. It is helpful during a cleanse to be on raw foods and/or raw juices, as much as possible.

From what I read, this "cleanse" does not place any undue burden on the liver or the rest of the body. It is supposed to help speed up the process of healing and detoxing.

I have even read of this being used with people who were in the process of passing a gallstone and it enabled them to do so while alleviating the horrendous pain. In any event, it is just food, so it should not harm most people.

Basically, this is the approach to a liver cleanse that is recommended by Dr. Richard Schulze, except he specifies fresh organic orange juice and does not include coconut oil.
